Premiere Particulars: True Detective

true detective 2

After a long year-plus of nervously waiting for the second season of HBO’s True Detective, it finally premiered a little over two weeks ago. I say “nervously” because I think pretty much every fan was on edge about some of the casting choices. I mean, Colin Farrell? Taylor Kitsch? Rachel McAdams? Vince freaking Vaughn?! Continue reading

Premiere Particulars: Game of Thrones

Good day, friends! Sorry for the lack of post yesterday—had a weekend away, and I got mixed up on some dates for a couple of very important upcoming reblogs, so, sadly, that left me with nada. Gonna make up for it by posting next Sunday, so look out! 😉 Continue reading

Premiere Particulars: The Leftovers

Slowly but surely, I am getting around to addressing these TV premieres. This was one that I was quite curious about and not just because the premise is interesting. For those who don’t already know, The Leftovers is adapted from a novel of the same name by Tom Perrotta—a novel that I actually read for a class in college once. In fact, we were reading it while Perrotta was in negotiations for making this HBO series, and I know that because my professor was in touch with him. Continue reading

Premiere Particulars: True Blood

true blood 1

And so it begins—the final season of True Blood, a staple of HBO since 2008. It’s a little weird to think of the network without its bloody, sexy vampire drama, but let’s be real—it is high time for this show to end. In fact, I’ve been thinking that for the past three seasons. The first three seasons were fun and interesting and unique. The last three seasons…not so much. Continue reading

The Skinny: Upcoming Summer TV

This is how I watch TV in the summer.

This is how I watch TV in the summer.

Happy Friday, friends! I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been feeling a little lost now that many of my favorite TV shows are on hiatus. Wow—did that sound as pathetic to you as it did to me? Maybe “lost” is being melodramatic, but it is a little sad not to have those pick-me-ups to look forward to throughout the week. Continue reading

Isaacs Picture Conclusions

Over the last couple of months a few of us sat around watching TV together and collectively jizzing each week after the conclusion of that week’s episode of True Detective, the phenomenal HBO mini series that brought us the likes of Rust Cohle, The Yellow King and some of the greatest character acting I’ve EVER seen. Once it was all over, we reckoned it would be too time consuming and LONG to try and detail all eight episodes so we sent BRIAN out for a carton of smokes, two suitcases of LONE STAR beer, three bottles of Clan MacGregor Scotch Whisky and some potted meat. When he finally fucking got back, we drew up a fire, did some shots (body shots???…….maybe……) and did some writin’ about what we thought of the first season. THANK YOU to everyone who participated!!! I know that was a long commute for some of you!!!

Premiere Particulars: True Detective

So I usually try to address TV premieres very soon after the original air date, but I’m a little late on this one…heck, it premiered a month ago; “late” is putting it politely. Basically, I hadn’t even heard about this show until I started seeing positive reviews for it, and now that I finally decided to check it out, here we are—four episodes in. Continue reading
