Has it been a mere two weeks since I last geeked? Maybe. Do I care? Nah brah. Guys, there’s just so much going on right now. Mainly a surge of trailers. I mean, where the heck did all these trailers come from?! We had nothing and/or little scraps of info, and then the last two weeks have just been an explosion! Guess that means summer’s almost here and with it ALL OF THESE AWESOME THINGS. Or, you know, at least some of them. But I digress. Shall we geek?
Exhibit A: The second Star Wars teaser
And so the hashtag “ChewieWereHome” was born. While the first teaser was exciting, this one was a bit longer, allowing time to show so much more cool stuff. Who is this mysterious “you” the narrator is talking to? For that matter, who is the narrator? And this Stormtrooper? And this fellow in the silver mask? Ahhhhh the burning questions!!! Still, the world got to see Han and Chewie, so I suppose we are somewhat sated–for now…P.S. Have you seen this perfect video of Matthew McConaughey “reacting” to this teaser? It’s actually just footage from Interstellar, but it’s still a pretty brilliant (and hilarious) combination.
Exhibit B: That True Detective teaser
Okay, so ultimately, this reveals little more than Colin Farrell’s intense ‘stache this season, but, hey, it’s still exciting to have a teaser! And it’s VERY exciting to have a premiere date. We’ll finish up Game of Thrones and go right into True Detective. Sounds like a good summer to me! Still not sure how I feel about this whole Vince Vaughn thing though…Guess we’ll see.
Exhibit C: Jared Leto teases his Joker
It’s grainy, not the best angle, and, of all things, a friggin’ Snapchat photo, but, hey, we’ll take what we can get, huh?? Jared Leto is finally giving us a vague idea of his Joker look for Suicide Squad, and it’s…well, very green! Haha. I’m interested in seeing how this look comes together with the final touches and, of course, whatever costume design they go with. I have high hopes for you, Mr. Leto. Don’t let me down, bro.
Exhibit D: The new Ant-Man trailer
Well look at you, Ant-Man! You’re a little more badass than I expected! Even though I’m still a tiny bit skeptical about this one (I know, I know–I shouldn’t be, but I can’t help it), I will readily admit that the effects look pretty awesome. And, of course, I’m sure Paul Rudd is going to be a lovely Ant-Man. He seems almost Peter Quill-esque. Fingers crossed that Rudd’s Scott Lang just as wonderful.
Exhibit E: The latest Jurassic World trailer
Have I been geeking a little too much about Jurassic World? Whatever. Every new trailer just gets me that much more excited!! This trailer gives more details on the crazy new hybrid dino plus we get to see Chris Pratt as raptor whisperer. Epic overload. Basically, it needs to be June 12th. Like, as soon as possible.
Exhibit F: S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff and Daredevil renewal
Just a couple of random geek TV tidbits for you: 1) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is apparently getting a spinoff series featuring Adrianne Palicki (Agent Bobbi Morse) and Nick Blood (Lance Hunter). Very, very few details on that right now, as it was just announced a few days ago, but I actually have mixed feelings about this since I quite like these characters and don’t want to see them ripped away from the team. Anyway, you can read more about that here. 2) Daredevil just got renewed for season two!!! I really don’t have much more to say about that other than yaaaassss. I am three episodes in now (you can read my review of the first episode here), and I am loving this series. You go on with your bad self, Matt Murdock.
Exhibit G: The new Fantastic Four trailer
We get to see some of the team dynamic and, more importantly, glimpses of those superpowers. And they look pretty cool. I gotta say, after the ultra cheese of the previous Fantastic Four films, I’m really glad they’re going for a much darker tone for this. And I think I’m gonna like this cast! Well, I’m on the fence with Kate Mara. She’ll have to win me over. Still, from what I’ve seen, I’ll take her Sue Storm over Jessica Alba’s any day. Anyway, we’ll have to wait a bit longer for this (August 7th), but I’m very curious to see how it stacks up against its Marvel competitors this summer.
Exhibit H: That Batman v Superman teaser
While I’m still overwhelmingly skeptical about this since Man of Steel disappointed me so, it’s still nice to see a little teaser for this. And, like, okaaaayyyy maybe it could be cool. Notice I say “cool” and not “good.” I’m reserving that “good” because with Zack Snyder directing it’s very likely to be visually impressive yet disappointing on nearly every other level. Still, seeing Batman and Superman stare each other down is intense. What’s up with Batman’s robot voice? Also, I LOVE how the internet almost immediately began comparing Batman’s armored suit to Lego Batman’s look in The Lego Movie. Indeed, everything IS awesome.
Exhibit I: An explosion of Beauty and the Beast news
SO MUCH CASTING HAS HAPPENED FOR THIS MOVIE. I’ve already expressed my love of the casting of Emma Watson as Belle, and Dan Stevens as the Beast received my stamp of approval after I watched The Guest. As for the rest…Okay, Josh Gad will be Le Fou, which I can definitely see working. Luke Evans will be Gaston, which seems kind of perfect. Ewan McGregor is reportedly lined up to be Lumiere which, yes, I can dig. Emma Thompson will be Mrs. Potts, which gets a resounding HELL YES from me. And here’s the biggie: GUYS. IAN MCKELLEN IS GOING TO BE COGSWORTH. GANDALF IS GOING TO BE COGSWORTH. I CAN’T EVEN. Disney is stacking this cast, and I am completely cool with it. I’m calling it right now: this is going to be Disney’s best live-action remake. Period.
Wow. This was a really trailer-heavy geek out, huh? Well, I hope you found something in all this geeking to enjoy. Now if you’ll excuse me–I really do need to be getting back to Daredevil now… 😉
“Have I been geeking a little too much about Jurassic World?” C’mon Cara, there is no such thing as over geeking out. 😛 But I agree, the last two weeks have seen a bevy of new trailers, most of which look epic. Hopefully the movies are as good as their trailers.
What I think is funny is how Batman’s suit is getting compared to Iron Man when it is actually almost completely adapted from (read: looks exactly like) his costume in The Dark Knight Returns, which is one of the film’s main influences. I’m going into BvS with cautious optimism.
Bahaha. You have an excellent point, Drew. 😉 Yes, let’s hope everything lives up!! I’d heard that Batman’s suit was modeled after his suit in The Dark Knight Returns, but I hadn’t realized it was so…armory. Lol. Cautious optimism is probably a good call for that one. I’m probably just sticking with “cautious.” Lol. 😉
I love the direction they’re taking Jurassic World. It’s like Alien but a huge dinosaur, in a theme park… well, it’s not that much like alien, but you know what I mean. Can’t wait!
On the other side of the coin, the side that fell in a pile of wet dog poop, is Batman vs. Superman. It just looks awful to me. Affleck seems horribly miscast, which everybody knew from the start. I just have no faith in it at all, especially considering how bad Man of Steel was.
Agreed. Jurassic World does seem kind of Alien-y. I have high hopes. Haha I figured you’d have no faith in BvS. In still holding out a tiny sliver of hope, but just a little. I’m reserving judgment on Batfleck. Although his hair looks kind of terrible…
CARA!!!
That new trailer for Fantastic 4 makes it look much better than the first!

I’m kinda really feeling Jurrasic Park too. you’re not alone!
T-Rex high five!!! Oh wait–they wouldn’t be very good at that, would they…?
I’m surprised you forgot the Tomorrowland trailer.
Jesus, man. Six other trailers not enough for you?! Lol.
This post is so awesome. I feel like screaming. The good kind obviously haha.
Bahaha I’m imagining you screaming like in the top gif. It’s a fun image.
Ha! When was the last time you did?
What? Fangirl screamed? Hmm. Maybe when Mark Hamill made a Star Wars reference on The Flash? Bahaha.
I thought it might be Star Wars related haha. And check your email.
Cool post, but for me Exhibit A is the one that I am most feeling out about from the selections given.
Sorry, meant to write geeking out not feeling out.
Oh totally. Star Wars is going to be epic. 🙂
Cara this post has me geeking around! I am so excited for all of these 😀 Great job!
Thanks, Natasha!! It’s a good time for geeks, that’s for sure!! 😀
Love this post! I’m so excited for Beauty & the Beast, the casting is just amazing!
– Allie
Aww I’m glad you had fun with this Allie!! I thoroughly expect Beauty & the Beast to be amazing. 😀

I’ll admit it–that Star Wars teaser gave me goosebumps. I’ve got a very good feeling about this one… 😉 Jurassic World I’m also pumped for, and while I originally wasn’t too excited about the Fantastic Four movie, I was impressed by the trailer. Hoping for good things from this summer’s blockbuster season!
Hear, hear!! 🙂
I love your geeking, Cara! For me it’s Star Wars. Can’t wait!!! 🙂 As for the “fellow in the silver mask”? Some are thinking it COULD be what’s her name super tall Game Of Thrones chick! That would be awesome….
Ahhhhh if that’s Brienne that’d be amazing!!!!!! 😀
Yeah! That’s her name. I totally suck with Game of Thrones character names. I still call everyone by the actual actor’s name!
Okay I might actually be willing to watch Beauty and the Beast now.
SCORE. 😀
I have a feeling Ian McKellen is going to win a lot of people over.
