I don’t know about you guys, but I am getting super psyched for the upcoming season of FX’s American Horror Story. We’ve roamed the bloody, ghost-filled halls of Murder House, we’ve been locked up in a severely twisted asylum, we’ve cast spells with a coven full of sassy witches, and now it’s time get a ticket for the freak show. I have high hopes that this might be the best season yet. I thought season three was amazing, but the material here could be even more interesting.
From the ridiculously cool poster above (which I borrowed from E! Online) and various other bits of information floating around the interwebz, here’s what we know: This season will be set in Jupiter, Florida in 1952, focusing on one of the last remaining freak shows in the country. Jessica Lange will play a German expatriate who manages the freak show. Sarah Paulson will play conjoined twins. Kathy Bates will play a bearded lady, mother of Evans Peters’ character and ex-wife to Michael Chiklis’ character, the freak show’s strongman. Chiklis’ strongman is married to Angela Bassett’s performer…who appears to have three boobs, so she’s got that going for her. Haha. Denis O’Hare will play a sort of rival to Lange’s character, described as a “collector of freaks.” And John Carroll Lynch will apparently play “Twisty the Clown Killer,” which sounds thoroughly terrifying. Frances Conroy, Emma Roberts, Finn Wittrock, Jamie Brewer, Gabourey Sidibe, Wes Bentley, Patti LaBelle, and Matt Bomer will all be featured as well. Also, this season’s tagline is #WirSindAlleFreaks, which is just about the coolest tagline ever. (For those of you unfamiliar with German, it means “We Are All Freaks.”)
Anyway, it’s Labor Day here in America, so to stay true to the holiday, I am going to stop laboring with all these silly words and give you what you came here for: some brief, creepy teasers. In true FX style, they reveal next to nothing about the show itself, but they sure are weird and intriguing.
First, we were given a ticket to the show by a very peculiar individual.
Then, we were offered treats from the concession stand, but someone else got to them first.
After that, the show began. Let’s just say we got to see a lot of leg.
We also may have just found out why the caged bird sings screams.
And, last but not least, we played footsies.
So that’s all we’ve got so far for AHS: Freak Show. Here’s hoping there’s a season trailer on the horizon! In the meantime, I’ll leave you with this amazing fanmade AHS teaser that is so much in the show’s style that it tricked almost everyone into believing it was the first official teaser. Gives me chills…
UPDATE (9-4-14)
THEY HAVE JUST ADDED ANOTHER AND IT IS THE CREEPIEST TEASER EVER.
UPDATE (9-5-14)
CLOWNS. DEAR GOD THE CLOWNS.
Who’s hungry for more?
I still haven’t seen Coven because we had to cancel our cable but I loved the first two seasons.
Oh noooo! Abbi, I think you’d really love Coven. If you get a chance, definitely give it a watch.
I love this Cara! I am so READYYYYYYYYYYY!
OMG RIGHT.
Yes bring it! We’re ready!
Eeeeeeeeeeek I can’t wait for this! However, I won’t lie, I was NOT a fan of Coven (which was a pity, because it started off really, really well).
Really?? Aw man. I LOVED Coven! The season that let me down a bit was Asylum. If they’d just left out the damn aliens…lol. But I think Freak Show is going to be epic. 🙂
