Blogiversary Bash: The Stats and More

Party Puppehs

Party Puppehs

Good day, friends! Thank you all so much for your kind words yesterday. It really does mean a lot. Eventually, I will find time to go back and respond to each one of you. It’s been a bit crazy around here with family coming into town, and I’m sure it will only get crazier. But I wanted to stick to the schedule I’d planned out because this is important to me. So here we go! Continue reading

An Important Reminder and Some Sad News

Golden retriever puppehs ftw

Golden retriever puppehs ftw

Happy Friday, bloggy people! Just wanted to post a little reminder: I had originally made the deadline for blogiversary stuff today…BUT if yours isn’t ready, I will definitely accept them beyond this date. I know a lot of you have contacted me saying you received last-minute inspiration, so of course I will take something whenever you can get it to me. I have things squared away for a while, so no pressure. 🙂 Continue reading

To Ease Your Game of Thrones Withdrawals

Hi, guys! Busy times here! Not only is it smack dab in the middle of birthday season in my family (we all have our birthdays within five weeks–not to mention Father’s Day), but my super cool sister is here to visit (read her hilarity in the Shenanigans Archives and see her in my NYC post), so forgive me if I fall behind on responding to comments and/or keeping up with your blogs over the next week or so (like I haven’t fallen waaaayyyy behind already). I am not intentionally being neglectful–I am just bonding with the fam. Continue reading

Edge of Tomorrow: a pleasant surprise for sci-fi fans

edge of tomorrow

What’s this? Another sci-fi movie? I think we can officially proclaim this the genre of the summer. I’ve been enthusiastic about most of this year’s sci-fi stuff, but Edge of Tomorrow was actually one of the films that I had every intention of avoiding. I thought, “Oh, boy. Tom Cruise doing another bland sci-fi playing the same character he plays in everything else. PASS.” But color me surprise when I started seeing good reviews for it. Continue reading

A Blogiversary Teaser Trailer

Hi, guys! Just a short clip today, but I’m thoroughly excited about this, so I had to share. Many of you are familiar with my buddy Luke over at Oracle of Film, yeah? If you aren’t, you should really go follow him right now. Yes NOW. I’ll wait…Okay, we good? Anyway, I don’t want to harp on this too much since I just said something about it yesterday, but I’ve got a series coming up for my one-year blogiversary (read the details here), and Luke is pulling out all the stops for it. Continue reading

Song and Screen: The Sporadic Chronicles of a Beginner Blogger

dog guitar 2

In case you were wondering, yes, dogs as guitars will be a regular thing for this series.

The incredible Miss Zoë of The Sporadic Chronicles of a Beginner Blogger is more on top of things than I could ever dream of being. After I invited people to contribute lists for this series a mere week ago, she decided to knock one out right away! She’s a blogging superstar! Anyway, you didn’t come here to listen to me gush about Zoë’s awesomeness–you’re here to witness it! So read on!

When The IPC is away, Miguel comes out to play. And by “play” I mean muse about his favorite movie deaths. Though I’m sure there are thousands more on his list, here are ten of them. Pray that my violent little trophy never decides to reenact any of these… *shudder*

Isaacs Picture Conclusions

Greetings, pathetic humans. Many of you have heard tell of me and my many heart-pounding adventures (see here and here), but for those of you who are in the dark, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alejandro Hannibal Jack-the-Ripper Optimus Prime Shitfestival Trophyton the Third. But you may call me “Miguel.” My somewhat tolerable guardian, that Cara chick, has given me leave to do something I have wanted to do ever since I entered this strange and mostly boring plane of existence: pay homage to my beautiful, benevolent, almighty Creator, Lord Eric “The IPC” Isaacs. He is a majestic creature whom I suspect is the offspring of a phoenix and an angel and a velociraptor. Cara tells me that having three biological parents is not how reproduction works, but I don’t believe her.

When faced with the challenge of how to properly honor my beloved Creator, who…

The Fault in Our Stars: can John Green save teen romance?

the fault in our stars 1

Here’s something many of you loyal readers have probably already figured out about me: I don’t do romance movies. Like, almost ever. Sure, there are a few rom-com exceptions in there, and once in a great, great while a drama with a romantic focus may pop up, but for the most part, naw, bro. Give me a good horror, comedy, sci-fi, or fantasy flick over romance any day. But John Green fever has swept the nation Continue reading

Jimmy Fallon and Channing Tatum Arm Wrestle

I haven’t posted a Tonight Show clip in WEEKS! Obviously, it’s time again. Today’s randomness is in honor of Friday’s 22 Jump Street premiere (which I’m actually pretty excited about…don’t judge me). I give you Jimmy Fallon and Channing Tatum trying to psych each other out while arm wrestling. This…this made me giggle. Hopefully, you will, too.

Song and Screen, Pt. 1

I typed in "dogs and guitars." This is one of the many wonderful things I found.

Happy Friday, you lovely readers, you! I hope that your day has been splendid thus far and that your weekend promises to be equally awesome. No new reviews today, but an idea for a new feature post popped into my head recently, and I thought I’d give it a whirl because why not? Well, if I’m being honest, it occurred to me that though I’ve chosen the name “Silver Screen Serenade” for this blog, I really don’t discuss music very much. Hopefully, this feature can fix that.
