Happy Friday, friends! I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been feeling a little lost now that many of my favorite TV shows are on hiatus. Wow—did that sound as pathetic to you as it did to me? Maybe “lost” is being melodramatic, but it is a little sad not to have those pick-me-ups to look forward to throughout the week. Continue reading
Hi, guys! Nothing substantial today (a friend is in town and we’re off having adventures), but I did want to point out that the teaser trailer for season eight of Doctor Who has been released. It…doesn’t reveal much. Haha. But it does confirm that it’ll be coming our way in August! Here’s hoping season eight is as awesome as the 50th Anniversary Special!
This is one I’ve been looking forward to for quite some time. Yes, I know I probably said the same about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but this was the superhero film I was really waiting for because I do love me some X-Men. But after a very strong start with X-Men and an even stronger second outing with X2: X-Men United (which you can read my review of here on Zoë’s lovely blog), X-Men faltered big time with the atrocious X-Men: The Last Stand. Good day, friends! Not sure if many of you will be around this weekend what with Memorial Day and Bank Holiday and all that jazz, but just in case any of you are around and looking for a laugh, here’s this video from Jimmy Kimmel Live of celebrities reading mean things people have tweeted about them. Have you seen these before? If not, I highly recommend going back and watching every one. They are that funny. Continue reading
The time is ripe for more shenanigans! That’s right—after having a grand old time watching and texting about Star Wars Episodes IV-VI (the likes of which you can read about in the Shenanigans Archives), my lovely sister, Laura Jo, and I decided we were ready to take on another trilogy. We just so happened to be hankering for dinosaurs. Continue reading
The awesome Mr. MovieRob was kind enough to let me participate in his epic Genre Grandeur series. This month’s theme was crime. My choice? Ocean’s Eleven, of course! There’s still time to send him your crime entry before the 25th, but if that’s too much of a time crunch start preparing for next month’s comic book theme now! Obviously, I can’t wait. 😀 Thanks so much, Rob!!!
For our next Genre Grandeur -Crime entry, I present you with a review by the reigning Shitfest champion, Cara from Silver Screen Serenade. If you don’t already follow here site, I strongly urge you to do so immediately. Cara’s blog has some amazing stuff, she has run 3 amazing guest series (so far) in the last few months alone (Noooovember, Resolutions and her most recent April Fools), she always finds cool and funny videos related to famous actors (mostly from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon) :), she runs Schuster Sister Shenanigans where she and her sister text each other while watching classic films, is a new parent to Miguel (a love child between her and Eric of the IPC) and she has an occasional movie review (just kidding, she does this more often that one would expect.
But enough about Cara, here’s her…

Confession time: initially, I had no desire to see this movie. In fact, I had made up my mind to actively avoid it. I tend to resist monster movies for some reason—partly because I find them cheesy, partly because I’ve seen so many of them fail that I’m reluctant to accept any as potentially good anymore. I had the same mindset for Pacific Rim last year. Continue reading
